Democrats can't win on intellectualism

Intellectualism -- it's our strength and our weakness.  We think about the complexities of policies, and their long-term consequences.  But let's face it; a lot of voters -- particularly the undecideds -- have the attention span of a goldfish.  They react to candidates and policies viscerally, not intellectually.  Give them statistics showing poverty on the rise, or healthcare becoming less and less attainable by the average American, and their eyes glaze over.  If they can't feel it viscerally, then they won't connect the dots.  Television ads that focus on complex ideas or statistics are forgotten like the morning fog met with a hot summer day.
